Concrete works
Concrete works represent a complex construction process, which consists of several important constituent stages:
- Preparation of concrete mixture: Before it hardens, concrete is called concrete mix. It is created by mixing cement, water and additives (such as sand and gravel). Cement is stored in silos, and is transported in special tanks or railway tank cars. Paper bags of cement are used for small quantities. The concrete mixture must be homogeneous and convenient for transportation and laying.
- Transportation of the finished concrete mixture: The finished concrete mixture is transported to the construction site. This can be done using concrete mixers or other specialized machines.
- Concreting (laying and compacting the concrete mixture): The concrete is placed in the formwork forms, where it is compacted and takes the desired shape. It is important to follow the dimensions, the leveling and strength of the walls.
- Hardening of concrete (care after laying): After placing the concrete, it begins to harden. The water in the concrete mix reacts with the cement, resulting in solid material. After hardening, additional activities are carried out, such as unpacking and maintenance.
